Editorial Policy

Last updated

This policy explains how Wellness Buyer Guide researches, writes, updates and corrects its content, and how we keep editorial information separate from advertising.

Our core commitment

We do not claim firsthand experience with a product unless the author actually used or tested that product.

When an article is based on research rather than personal use, it says so near the top of the page. When an author has used a product, the article states that explicitly.

How products are researched

For each product we write about, we aim to:

  1. Research the product and its manufacturer.
  2. Review publicly available product information, including labels, ingredient lists and published terms.
  3. Examine available evidence and relevant sources for the ingredients and any specific claims.
  4. Present potential advantages, potential limitations and practical purchasing considerations.

We do not publish fabricated product details, test results, statistics or customer experiences. If information is not publicly available or cannot be verified, we say so rather than filling the gap.

How sources are selected

We prioritize, where available:

  • Government health agencies
  • Peer-reviewed research
  • Academic publications
  • Recognized medical institutions
  • Manufacturer documentation (clearly labeled as manufacturer information)

Every article that relies on outside information includes a Sources & References section. Each source is labeled by type so readers can tell independent sources apart from manufacturer material. We do not cite studies we have not located and reviewed, and we never create citations.

How manufacturer claims are handled

Manufacturer claims are attributed to the manufacturer — for example, "The manufacturer states that…" — and are not restated as our own conclusions. We do not rewrite a claim such as "designed to support…" as "this product will…".

Articles distinguish between four kinds of information:

  • Manufacturer claims — what the company says about its own product.
  • Independent evidence — what research and authoritative sources show, including their limitations.
  • Editorial analysis — our own reasoning, clearly presented as such.
  • General educational information — background that is not specific to a product.

We do not state or imply that any product cures, treats or prevents disease, replaces medical treatment, or guarantees any result.

Affiliate relationships

Some articles contain affiliate links. If you purchase through one of these links, Wellness Buyer Guide may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Articles with affiliate links display a disclosure near the top of the page.

Affiliate relationships do not determine editorial conclusions. We do not accept payment in exchange for favorable coverage, and a product's affiliate status does not change how potential limitations are presented. See our affiliate disclosure for details.

Editorial content vs. advertising

Editorial content is the research and analysis written by our contributors. Advertising and affiliate links are commercial arrangements. We keep them distinct:

  • Affiliate links are marked with appropriate link attributes and are accompanied by a disclosure.
  • Calls to action that lead to third-party websites state that the destination is not operated by Wellness Buyer Guide.
  • We never present ourselves as the manufacturer or official website of a product.

Ratings

We do not publish star ratings, aggregate ratings or review counts that are not based on a documented methodology. We do not display customer testimonials or reviews that we cannot verify.

How articles are updated

Product information, pricing, guarantees and research can change. Articles show a published date and, when revised, an updated date. We review articles when we become aware of meaningful changes, such as a reformulation, new evidence or changed purchasing terms.

Corrections

If we find or are told about an error, we review it and correct the article when the error is confirmed. Substantive corrections are noted within the article. To report a possible error, please use our contact page and include the page URL and the information you believe is incorrect.

Our content is for educational and informational purposes only and is not medical advice. Please read our medical disclaimer.
